RECIPES

BAKING POWDER DUMPLINGS FOR STEWS

Baking Powder Dumplings Steamed Over Stewed Potatoes and Chicken

RECIPE #1

INGREDIENTS NEEDED:

1 1/3 CUPS SIFTED WHITE FLOUR

3  TSP OF BAKING POWDER

3/4 TSP  OF SALT

3/4  TBS OF BUTTER, MARGARINE OR SHORTENING

3/4  CUP OF MILK

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Mix flour, baking powder and salt together
  2. Cut in the butter then add the milk and stir quickly to form a soft dough ball
  3. 15 to 20 minutes before the stew is finished, form the buns and place the buns onto the stew and try not to let the buns touch the liquid because they will get soggy
  4. Cover the kettle and let steam for about 15 minutes.
  5. Serve stew with buns on top on one plate or separately.
  6. Makes about 8 buns.
  7. Takes about 30 minutes to make.
