Frank girls, step-daughters of Martin Grun:  See article PageBolenderSchenkel.html >>"In 1752 Martin Grun, Heinrich Schenkel, and Christian Muller went to 'Pennsylvanien.'  They had to pay all the aforementioned duties, except Martin Grun who, because of his having no property, was manumitted without charge.  But the request for emigration met with great difficulties in the case of the three stepdaughters of Martin Grun--Anna Barbara, Marie Elisabetha, and Maria Catharina Frank--who were such good workers, at the best age for working, and so plainly valued by the Electoral Government that they received manumission reluctantly and only after long struggles.<<

Photo by Gernot Rumpf, the German sculptor,  who created this marvelous statue of Johan Adam Hartmann in the new main square of Edenkoben on the Wine Road, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany.  The statue is title "Leatherstocking Fountain"

http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johann_Adam_Hartmann

Johann Adam Hartmann b. 5 Sept 1743 : Johann is forever linked to the author James Fenimore Cooper b. 1789 d. 1851 who used Johann Adam Hartmann, who was born in Edenkoben, who at the age of 16 migr from Edenkoben to North America, became a trapper, then a "scout" against the British in the American Revolution, as a model for his character Major Frederick Hartmann (Fritz) in his series of books known as the Leatherstocking Tales which were about early North American characters in history.,  There is a statue on a fountain in the middle of the village which is for his memorial.  James series of books are known as the Leatherstocking Tales.

See  de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bild:James_Fenimore_Cooper_by_Bady.jpg  (German).

In a different source it says that a Major Frederick Hartmann "was a Palatine German from the Mohawk Valley; and old crony of Judge Temple's based on Henrich Frey of Canajoharie, who was a close friend of James fathe'r William Cooper".  Sometimes facts get tangeled.

Heinrich Frey was b. 1734 in Canajoharie, Montgomery Co., NY.   His father was Johan Fenirhc Frey b. 14 Oct 1680 Ermelstade, Canton of Zurick, Switzerlnd and Elisabeth Herkimer b. about 1733, dau. of Johan Jost Herkimer and Anna Catharine Petrie.  The Herkimer family was poss. from Sandhausen/ Heidelberg, Germany and probably was the son of Georg Herkimer who was on the New York (USA) Palatine "Hunter List"

On another list it has Hans Adam Hartmann b. 5 Sept 1743 in Edenkoben / Rhineland Pfalz m. in Hekimer, Co., NY (USA) d. 27 Jan 1829 German Flatts, Herkimer Co., NY (son of Johannes Hartmann b, Switzerland,   and Anna Barbara Scholl)  m. to Maria Catherina Barth.  Johann mig. to USA about 1763.  [See Oschner family, who migrated from the Zurich, Switzerland area to Edenkoben.]

Leonhard

Nicolas and Wilhelm Leonhard of Edenkoben: "... In 1752 Nicolas Leonhard, who had secretly emigrated around 1749, requested manumission so that his inheritance could be handed over to him.  His request was granted, yet he had to pay 35 florins (guldens) for his manumission, for the "Tenth Penny" 31 florins, and for the Military Treasury, in the lieu of military service unrendered 7 florins.  His brother Wilhelm Leonhard, who later also wanted to emigrate, was described as an "ill-behaved and dissolute petitioner" (ohnartiger and liederlicher Supplican), so that his request for emigration could be granted with no difficulties at all.

NOTES:

In Bavaria there is  the ruin ext to the Naab Riverns of an ancient castle in Burglengenfeld , District of Schwandorf, which is about 22 milies north of Regnsburg, and it is said that the occuppants were of the name Lingenfeld somewhere around the year 1100..

In Pfalz, which was part of Bavaria and at other times was part of Alsace Loaine. , there is a village of Lingenfeld.  It is quite common for person who migrated to another take place in those times to be given the name of place where a person migrated from.

Kathhleen Suzanne. Overman wrote on her site in family tree maker: "Lingenfelder, Lengenfelder  and Langenfelder have been noted in early records: 1378. 1424-Edenkoben; 1490; 1517; and 1584 Neudstadt The village of Lingenfeld is on the Rhine River upstream from Speyer.  Two versions are given for the naming of the village.  One belief is that it came from a type of farm land in the vicinity--long, narrow fields (langenfeld).  Another version-- it was the mae taken by a noble family of knights or from the family name of the Junker von Legenvelt.  The village was sell settled in Roman times and is first mentioned by the name Legenvelt in a document of 1043.".  Kathleen thanked many people in her article.  See http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/o/v/e/Kathleen-Suzanne-Overman/index.html  Title: Overman Kessinger Bennett Plumley Lingenfelt families date 15 April 2008.  e-mail: overman7265@aol.com

There was a Konrad van Lingenfeld who was the overseer of tthe Castle of Gommersheim / Landkreis Suedliche Weinstrasse, Pfalz  in 1439.

There was a Junker von Lingenfeld who owned land on the outskirts of Germersheim to the Heilgenstein Heights .  The area was called "langes feld". We have not yet discovered any family ties.  Perhaps our family once worked this areaa and became known as Lingenfelders.

The present owner , Rainer Lingenfelder, of the Lingenfelder Esates who's business is that of wine making in the Pfalz  (Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany) back 13 geneations.   See http://www.lingenfeld.com/our_estate/13-generations.htm.

Our family line, like Rainer's,  reaches back to Rhodt citizen known as:  Anstatt Lingenfelder b. 1520 Rhodt, who is possibly the son of Valentine Lingenfelder b. 1469 Pfalz. I don't know about Rainer's exact lineage, which is not given in the Lingenfelder Estate article, but my family is linked to Anstatt's son:. Anstatt Lingenfelder b. 1579 Rhodt / Pfalz .

The Lingenfelder family wholes "a continous record d of wintemaking in the family from 1520 to 1938"

The estate of Rainer's is not the original land owned by the family which was sold in 1938 when the area fell to the Phyulloxers epidemics (a powdery and downy mildrew).
