I known, I know, I should know the ones I haven't  named. A couple are my cousins, but I can't seem to draw their names into my head. And yes, yes, I know, there are some misnames but you know, the memory is fading at 56.

Kindergarten Memories:

GARFIELD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL HISTORY: The first public school I attended was Garfield which held it's dedication back in April 29, 1923  I don't know if it still exists in 1998.

First Grade Memories:

I thought the world of Mrs. Baldwin and her kindness carried be through the rest of my school years with good humor and the need to learn.

I remember the huge mural we drew and colored for Open House night.  All of us were given a section to create in our own space. Some of us liked to draw and some of us hated it.  I was one of those who liked this opportunity to draw something which everyone would see including our parents and other teachers.  If I remember correctly the scenes were early California years about the missions and Sutter's Mill where gold was first discovered.

Sometimes an older student visited us and helped us because they, too, had enjoyed the experience and they knew we could use help in making it something special.
