[Reinhard, Reinhardt, Reinhart, Rheinhart, Rhinehart, Rinehart]

CORRECTIONS:  27 Jan 2002

The name Reinhardt is German from the raw word "Ragin-hart" found in Old German. "Ragin-hart" means "powerful one".  Some books refer to a Reinhardt being a person who was a member of the "Council".

Our family of Reinhardts have been traced back to Rudolph Reinhardt, who died 4 Aug 1636, and who had. m. Anna _?_. They had a son, our ancestor Egidius Reinhardt b. 1630 Aldingen / Ludwigsberg, Wu. m. Anna _?_.   Therefore, we appear to be of German origin and lived near Ludwigsberg where the Royal Wurtemberg family's castle exist today as a museum to the past.

I'm told by others who have researched the family that Rudolph and Anna Reinhardt's descendants left the German state of Wu. as the French military entered the area in the early 1800s.  Our family headed eastward and settled for a time in Sulzfeld which was a Germany colony near Warsaw, [Poland].

Their were many other Germans, who, like the Reinhardts and Bippus,  had, also, fled the German states and ended up  in villages near Warsaw. Many of these Germans, like the Reinhardts and Bippus, would not remain in the Warsaw area, because, once, again, the French military, this time lead by Napoleon, entered the area.  The Reinhardt  and Bippus families fled farther east and into the country of Russia and became early colonists of Borodino / Bessarabia, S. Russia in 1814.  The history of this village can be found at:
