Remmick  Family Background

[Remick / Roemmich / Romig]

My paternal ancestor, H. Lorenz Roemich [Roemig], who was born about 1595, attended Heidelberg University which he left when the Thirty Year War began.  His father, Andreas Roemich, had been the tresurer of Neustadt on the Haardt  n. Landu in Palatinate [Pfalz] in what is, now, in Germany. We may be connected to the 10 th Count of Leimen [n. Heidelberg]. H. Lorenz Roemig's descendent married in 1720  in Edenkoben where they took up ressidence. Their descendants migrated to Worms, Odessa. S. Russia  in 1809. On the fourth of July 1906 my grandfather Edward Remick, age 6, snuck off their ship which had just docked in Baltimore, Maryland, USA to ride in a dog cart with an American child and waved the flag which he'd later defend in the Great War as a US citizen in Europe and Russia [not far from where he was born]. My father, Edwin Remmick was born in N. Dakota.  In 1943 my father and mother, Lillian, nee Hein*, whom he had met and married in Montana and where they lived, packed up the car and we [I was six months old] headed for Lodi, California where I grew up.... I married Garry J. D.Hubert, who was a "navy brat" We had met in college...  We have two children and four grandchildren. We live in the Bay area at this time.

rose bud UNFOLDING THE ROSEBUD rose bud

It is only a tiny rosebud,
A flower of GOD's design;
But I cannot unfold the petals
With these clumsy hands of mine.
The secret of unfolding flowers
Is not known to such as I.
GOD opens this flower so sweetly,
When in my hands they fade and die.
If  I cannot unfold a rosebud,
This flower of GOD's design,
Then how can I think I have wisdom
To unfold this life of mine?
So I'll trust in Him for His leading
Each moment of every day.
I will look to Him for His guidance
Each step of the pilgrim way.
The pathway that lies before me,
Only my heavenly Father knows.
I'll trust Him to unfold the moments,
Just as He unfolds the rose.
