With his wife and family they migrated to "Podolia"  In 1804 Johann and Margaretha, as she was known,   settled in the German-Russian Black Sea colony of Glueckstal/ Odessa, S. Russia. Johan and Margaretha  are not  listed as having died in Glueckstal. . About 1815/16 Johann and Margaretha migr. to Gruzin+ [Grusien] Quarters in Tifilis/ Georgia [Grushka], Russia, then in 1817/18 to the German Colony of Katharinenfeld* / n. Yelizavetpol, S. Caucasus, Georgia .  She is listed in the village index ** in 1826 at time of "destruction" by the Turks who carried their victims away and (it was said) the Turks sold their victims  in the market as slaves in Istanbul*.  Johann is not listed in the index. On this same list are found the names of two of Johann and Margarethe's grandsons: Friedrich Kraenzler age 15 [b. abt 1814] and Gottlieb Krenzler age 13 [b. abt 1816]. Those who escaped fled to Tifilis. Instead of returning to Katharinefeld, many settled elsewhere in Russia. Ernst Kaentzler has Margaretha's posible place of death in Helenfeld / Georgia (Grusien), Russia aft. 1837, however, I think it was in Helenendorf*** n. Yelizavetpol / Georgia, S.Caucasus [Suedkaukasus], Russia .Where or when Johann died is an unknown.

+To  the south of the old railway station, which was in the northern part of Tifilis [Tbilis, Tbilizi, Kalaki] and  on the left bank of the Kura River, was the Georgian Quarters known as Gruzinian Quarters which was the seat of the officals and the larger business firms.  In 1818 to the north of the Gruzinian Quarters would be established the German Quarters occupied by German immigrants from Wuerttemberg.  Georgia ceded to Russia in 1801.

He m. (1)Anna Catharina Schultes [Schultheiss].  She worked for an Inn known as "Hirsch" which still stands [rebuilt] in Lustnau today.

Notes From Ernst-Friederich Kraentzler 21 July 1986:

"The Kraenzler family, it  is believed , originated in Switzerland, possibly in Canton Zug, where the name is spelled Kraenzli. However, the earliest record of the family is found in the "Tachebuch" (Tax book) for Dettingen-am-Erbs which is located near the ancient town of Urach in the province of Wuertemberg, in south Germany about the year 1450/75. The family for generations were vineyardsmen wherever they went until the family arrived in America."
