Thanks for the reply, we are trying to see if there are any records that may help us with a Jacob (Jakob) Ulrich born Aug 24, 1877 in Russia. Another research is related to Gottfried Ulrich born Dec 2, 1860 in Borodino. This is were it gets confusing. Some of the desendants of Gottfried and some of the descendants of Jacob call each other cousins - but nobody knows the relationship! When traced from Jacob and Gottfried to today there is no relative cross so the relationship has to be with Jacob to Gottfried or earlier: ie same father or grandfather etc...

Part 2 of the puzzle - both Gottfried and Jacob ended up in Ashley ND in 1893. From naturalization records we found that Jacob came over via Port Huron. Gottfried we have not recived the papers yet. Another coincedence is that both famlies migrated to Marsh, MT. one other item I have yet to get has been a 1900 census of McIntosh County, ND to see who was living with who.

Jacob Ulrich married Karoline Bitz in 1905 in Ashley

Gottfried Ulrich married Christina Ruff in 1884 in Russia
