Picture show not only dress, also showed the  interior of Hummel Home in Sackelhausen before the turn of the 20th century.  Families  were large landowners and it was important to show their ladies were educated and so she held a book.  Even the pottery and chair  tells us of a different time and place.  There is a large window to the right which had heavy drapery.  The floor was carpeted and the wall had wallpaper.  Her black clothes and covered head showed she was married.

Translation: Jakob Goetz's name is listed under #313 in the Ulmbach family book, his parents are listed under #312, his in-law under #68; Jacob Goetz will be listed in the Sackelhauser family book (which has as yet not been published) under #667, the sons will be listed under#668 and #671.

Remmick-Hubert Notes: I dug back into Goetz data to check out the Schodt and Weber marriages to Anton Goetz b. 1720. Here is what I found in letter from my researcher: <<Anton Goetz, the father of Jakob Goetz, married Katharina Weber on April 17, 1736 in Ulmbach. They had a son Konrad (b. May 3, 1737, died Oct 30, 1739). This first wife of Goetz was daughter of Stefan Weber and Ursula; Katherina died in the summer of 1738 of the plague. Anton Goetz married a second time on Sept 29 1738  to Sofia Schodt ( b. Dec 28 , 1721 in Nickenich near Koblenz, daughter of Markus Schud and Elis).. . The couple had 10 children between 1739 and 1765, among them the sixth child Jacob, born May 13, 1748; the couple apparently moved away from Ulmbach because neither Anton Goetz nor his second wife Sofia, nee Schodt, died in Ulmbach>>
*In an E-mail  of 12 oct 1999 from Gertrude Gier Fresenburg in St. Louis, she writes that Anton Gotz was her  fifth generation grandfather.... Anton Gotz was born in 1720.  Gertrude, also, corrected my many errors.  Thank you.
